Welcome to the Jewish Institute of Cantorial Arts (JICA) !

We are grateful for your interest in our cantor/educator training programme which is unique in Europe. Since our establishment in 2007 we combine academic Jewish and musical training at the University of Potsdam with vocational preparation at the cantorial seminary.

JICA is a part of the Abraham Geiger College, Germany's first rabbinical seminary since the Holocaust. As such we are a member of the World Union for Progressive Judaism and co-operate closely with the School of Sacred Music of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. The first year of our programme is situated at HUC-JIR's Jerusalem campus.

Training at our cantorial school does not involve any tuition. Scholarships are available.
